Legacy of Orïsha, tome 2 : Children of Virtue and Vengeance – Tomi Adeyemi

After battling the impossible, Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orïsha. But the ritual was more powerful than they imagined, reigniting the powers of not only the maji but also some nobles with magic ancestry.

Now, Zélie struggles to unite the maji in an Orïsha where the enemy is just as strong and magical as they are. When Amari’s mother forms an army of royals with newly awakened powers, Zélie fights to secure Amari’s right to the throne and protect the new maji from the monarchy’s wrath.

But with civil war looming on the horizon, Zélie finds herself at a breaking point: she must find a way to bring the kingdom together or watch as Orïsha tears itself apart.

J’avais trouvé le tome 1 assez basique et un peu long mais ce tome 2 fut pire…

A la fin du premier tome, les majis récupèrent leur magie, et une guerre civile se prépare. Je m’attendais à du grand pour ce deuxième tome. Malheureusement on est sur une trame des plus basique avec une guerre entre les majis et ceux contre la magie. Amari veut le trône, Zélie est insupportable, Tzain est invisible. On tourne constamment en boucle : tu m’as trahi, je te hais, je te pardonne. C’est tout le temps pareil.

Zélie qui pouvait être un personnage intéressant dès le début est un personnage antipathique au possible. J’avais juste une envie pendant toute ma lecture : la secouer.

Y a plein de choses intéressantes, comme l’histoire sur la mère d’Amari, Roën, les 2 clans, l’esclavage, la révolte, l’univers mais mal exploités à mon goût.

Je ne lirai pas la suite, car le comportement de Zélie à complétement gâché ma lecture.
